March is Nutrition Month and this year the Library’s focus is ‘locavorism’ - eating locally. Throughout the month we are hosting a series of workshops and information sessions based on this theme.
On March 16 at 6pm local gardener and great guy Charlie Finley will host a learning session on how to grow food in Jasper. Whether you’re new to gardening or have been doing it for 30 years you’re sure to learn something from Charlie - and have a great time doing it. Bring your curiosity and specific growing questions, this will be an interactive session!
On March 18 at 6:30pm the Three Valley Growers and Producers Co-operative will give a presentation at the Library. The co-op’s mandate is to work towards building a sustainable, local food system. If you are interested in knowing more about this group, or in accessing food grown just beyond the park gates, please join us.
On March 23 at 6pm the Library will host presentations on a number of local community garden initiatives. If you are interested in sharing garden space, organizing a community garden, volunteering your time or just airing your opinion, don’t miss this meeting.
We’re still working on bringing in more sessions and speakers - stay tuned for scheduling and updates, and be sure to come in and check out our Nutrition Month display of ‘locavore’ books!
